Survey to Establish RTEMS SMP Space Profile

- March 19, 2019
The European Space Agency is sponsoring the pre-qualification of RTEMS for space applications. As part of this effort, embedded brains GmbH has prepared a survey to help determine what features users need and want in this profile. Please invest the time to complete the survey.
The survey concludes March 25 2019.
The aim of this survey is to understand which functionality should be present in the space profile of RTEMS SMP. This survey is not anonymous and your data may be presented to and used by the RTEMS project and contributors - albeit in an anonymised form. It may be used by an ongoing ESA activity to perform a pre-qualification of RTEMS SMP according to ECSS standards (ECSS-E-ST-40C and ECSS-Q-ST-80C). These standards are available for free from https://ecss.nl.
The space profile of RTEMS SMP is intended for applications in ECSS software criticality C (ECSS-Q-ST-80C: “Software that if not executed, or if not correctly executed, or whose anomalous behaviour can cause or contribute to a system failure resulting in: Major consequences”). In ECSS-Q-ST-40C major consequences are characterized in Table 6-1 as a major mission degradation without effects to the outside world of the system. A future activity may perform ISVV (independent Software Verification and Validation) to enable a use in criticality category B settings. Please do this survey with an space application in the same criticality category (C or B, but not D) in mind (i.e. science data processing).
